Cleaning is an industry in which workers have been exploited for a long time.

Workloads are punishing and pay is poor. Cleaners – many of whom are from ethnic backgrounds – are often unable to support their families on their wages despite working back-breaking, full-time jobs.

I wish them well in raising the issues that affect them so deeply, and luck in resolving those issues. I hope the industry can be reformed so that hard-working cleaners are justly rewarded.
